Lead Minister/Worship Leader:    Jeff & Kristy Steppe

Jeff and his wife Kristy, joined the FCC team in November 2012. Before coming to Maryland, Jeff and Kristy's experience includes church planting in central Pennsylvania and ministries in established churches in both Indiana and Pennsylvania. Jeff is from Pennsylvania and Kristy is a Hoosier born and raised in Indiana. They are graduates of Johnson Bible College, Knoxville, TN.

Elder & Trustee:    David Boggs

David and his wife, Peggy, have attended First Christian Church all of their lives. Both were baptized in their teens. They were married in the church at Capital Heights in 1961. They live in Davidsonville, Maryland. Their daughter, Hunter, was born in 1976. She is married to Chris, an officer in the Marine Corps and they currently live in Davidsonville, Maryland.

 

David attended the University of  Maryland and Anne Arundel Community College. He has worked for Lyon Conklin Co. Inc since 1964, when he returned from military service.

 

David and Peggy have always been actively involved in the church. David currently serves as Elder, Trustee and Sunday School teacher and has served as Youth Group Leader, Small Group Leader, Chairman of the Building Committee and in many other areas as needed.

         

Elder & Trustee:    Godfrey Lewis

Elder Godfrey Lewis and his wife Sheryl, have been members at First Christian Church since 2004 where each has served in various capacities such as Sunday School and Children’s Church teacher, Deacon and Trustee. Godfrey is from Guyana, South America and Sheryl is from Jamaica. They have two children and live in Maryland.

Associate Minister & Trustee:    Don and Shelley Battle

Don and his wife, Shelley have been members of First Christian Church since April 2006. Their joy in service to the Lord, both at First Christian Church and in their previous church affiliations, is in the music ministry primarily for Shelley and preaching/teaching ministries for Don.  

Here at FCC, Don was blessed to be ordained as an Associate Minister in March 2008. He began his walk in the Lord on Easter Sunday 1958 when he was baptized. Don's spiritual background and service has been exclusively in Baptist churches prior to uniting with FCC. In that walk as a servant of God through Christ, Don has served as an Adult Sunday School teacher for 25+ years and a Licensed Baptist Minister for 15 years. Don believes his spiritual gifts to be teaching and preaching. His academic background includes attendance at Western Michigan University, Prince George’s Community College and local seminary classes within various Baptist churches. Shelley was baptized as a baby but in 1982 was baptized as an adult. Since then, she has served in various capacities such as the Newsletter editor, Bulletin, Youth and Sunday School ministries. Her academic background includes graduation from the University of Massachusetts.

They have been married for 30 years and live in Mitchellville, MD with their beloved dog, Happi. Don and Shelley are joyously blessed to walk with the Lord at FCC.

Associate Minister:    Martin and Kelly Blake

Martin Blake, and his wife Kelly, have been actively involved with FCC since October 2010, where he was recently ordained as an Associate Minister. He was baptized in the Church of Christ.  His understanding and exposure to multiple cultural and sub-cultural settings allows him to have a unique and informed perspective that will serve as a benefit to our church as we strive to be a beacon of ethnic diversity, not just in the Restoration Movement, but in the Kingdom.

 

Martin, originally from Jamaica, is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and received his MBA from the University of  Baltimore, Robert G. Merrick School of Business. He is an executive with a non-profit youth development organization and is respected for his positive attitude.

 

Kelly, a former public school teacher and current home schooling mom, was baptized in the Southern Baptist Church she grew up in.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park.  She and Martin were married in 1995 and have been blessed with four children; two girls and two boys. They work with the youth and children’s ministries at FCC, helping to cultivate the next generation of disciples.

Deacon:    Victor Johnson

Deacon Victor Johnson has been a member at First Christian Church since November 2006 where he serves as Deacon. Victor is from Nigeria. He has three children - Joseph, Joshua and Eugenia. They currently reside in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Trustee & Treasurer:    Sylvia Eason

 

Sylvia Eason  has been a member at First Christian Church since 1999 where she serves as Treasurer and Trustee. She is from New Orleans, LA. Sylvia and her husband have grown children and reside in Upper Marlboro, MD.
